Guernsey's challenging run of games against teams in the top six continues with the visit of Hastings United to Footes Lane on Saturday.
Angus Mackay returns to the squad, while Robbie Legg misses out due to the hamstring injury he suffered against Cray Valley last weekend.
Tony Vance has selected a squad of 15 for the clash, with the list of those selected as follows: Stanton, Marsh, McKane, F Tobin, Strawbridge, Dodd, H Tobin, Mackay, De La Mare, L Mahon, Scott, Gauvain, Loaring, Canha, Allen.
Despite the formidable opposition, the Green Lions can take heart from a 100% record in their two home games so far this season, both against teams near the top of the table. A win could take us level on points with the play-off places.
Guernsey’s defence will need to be in as good form as were in their home wins over VCD Athletic and Sevenoaks Town as they take on a team that plundered a dozen goals in midweek. Forward Davide Rodari, whose youth career CV includes Italians Internazionale on it, plundered eight goals as the Arrows destroyed East Grinstead Town 12-3 in the Velocity Trophy.
League-wise, the Sussex side are the only team in Isthmian South East to remain unbeaten this season. A win on Saturday could take them top on goal difference, providing Cray Valley PM lose to Whitehawk. Rodari doubled his season tally to 16 on Tuesday, and the closest behind him for Hastings is Ben Pope with 13 goals in all competitions. They have by far the tightest defence in the league with only four goals conceded.
This has been one of the most common fixtures for Guernsey since 2011, with the pair meeting 13 times. Hastings have seven wins to GFC’s four, with two draws. The Arrows edged out the Green Lions 1-0 in this fixture last season, while Matt Loaring’s penalty earned us a 1-1 draw in our last meetings on the mainland, in February.
Saturday’s match kicks off at 2pm. Fans unable to make it to Footes Lane can watch full live coverage on GFCTV and keep up to date via our social media channels. Highlights and the full 90-minute playback will be available over the weekend and there will be a comprehensive match report on the website.
